It was really neat inside. What they say about it is true… It’s really cool to see life from then completely frozen for thousands of years. Broken pillars lined the streets that weaved in and out of all of the crumbling walls. There were a lot of temples and stuff... all interesting.

The two things that really stood out to me were the streets and the homes. On the streets there were many ruts from the chariots that would ride across it. And walking into the homes and seeing the ovens and what not all made it really easy to imagine what the city must have been like when it was still alive.

After Pompeii we waited for an hour or so to catch a bus to take us to Mt. Vesuvius. The ride up the mountain took about an hour. When you got to the top you had to hike up a very steep trail that was mostly loose rocks. All with out shade, but it was well worth it.

The view from the top was spectacular. You could see a lot of the cities lining the coast. Then, of course, the gaping crater of the volcano that made Pompeii so famous.

The train ride back to Sorrento took forever. Apparently one of the trains along the line caught on fire and was blocking the tracks. Chaos among the people… everyone asking what was going on. Us speaking English only it was hard to figure out what to do. We eventually went into a hotel and asked if she could help us. Another train picked us up and took us further down the line stopped… then finally to Sorrento. When we arrived back in Sorrento we at a nice dinner with wine and toped it off with some crepes. Long day.
