Today Jam and I went with Philippe and Luca to a beach at Circeo. It was about an hour and a half drive from Rome. It was interesting to see how the road systems work here. The speed limit was about 130kmp/h ... which is roughly 80 mph. They both rambled on about how bad the American system is a lot of the way. When we arrived we went straight to the beach to swim for a little while. It was a little cold.

Afterwards we walked around and took a few photos. We went up the mountain some by the light house and stuff... it was nice.

ches. Luca's parents sent with him a rice salad. It was mostly rice with corn, sausage, and olives in it. They said it was a typical summer dish.

From there we walked down a trail where Luca says he usually cliff dives from. We found a little hole in the rock that led to the water by a cave. took a few photos there. We were unable to jump off the cliff because the water was a little too rough and they way you get up is the side of some rocks. So we just took photos and stuff.

We decided from there to go find water before we went hiking up the mountain. We looked in a little village just off the hill that was pretty neat. the village is very steep off the side of the mountain. Really pretty.

After we got water we took off towards the top of the mountain. the hike was took about an hour and a half. It was fairly rough at some parts but nothing too bad. All of the work was completely worth it. This was definitely the highlight of my day. You could see for miles on the top of the mountain. We were at the tip where the land came to a point so you could see the water on both sides of the land. Beautiful, beautiful view. We propped the camera on a rock and took a few group photos then started to head back.

Tonight after we showered and dressed we met back up with Philippe and Luca to go to a pub. The area of the pub was where all the college kids hung out... kind of like 6th street or the square. I think we were the only Americans there. but it was nice.

I always enjoy breaking away from the touristic areas on trips. I understand a lot more of what everyday life is like for people living in that area.
